Please join the Human Resource Leadership Association on Thursday, September 18, 2008 for our annual legislative update. Margaret (Peggy) Strange, Partner, and Holly Cini, Associate, in the Hartford office of the national law firm Jackson Lewis, will provide our annual legislative update to summarize workplace legal developments over the past year. There have been a number of significant court decisions and developments that will impact HR policies and practices for employers large and small. The program will provide insight and discussion on issues such as: § 2007 and 2008 state and federal legislation impacting the workplace and human resources policies and procedures; § recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions including a significant decision relating to what employee records are subject to disclosure in litigation; § and an update on electronic document retention issues. Peggy and Holly together have nearly 30 years of experience advising employers on virtually every aspect of workplace law and representing them in many different forums, including state and federal court, the state and federal departments of labor, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, the Unemployment Compensation Commission and the Workers’ Compensation Commission. They have successfully litigated many cases alleging wrongful termination, discrimination, wage violations, and other statutory and common law causes of action.
