Sr. Director of Philanthropy and New Business Development
The Sr. Director of Philanthropy and New Business Development is responsible for securing new significant revenue for Easterseals Capital Region & Eastern CT (“Easterseals CR&EC”) through individual and corporate major gifts, as well as, new and potentially novel service and business opportunities. This role is visionary and includes the ability to execute along with developing new business verticals and expanding existing programs, resulting in significant financial growth for the organization.
Additionally, the role is responsible for identifying, cultivating, converting and stewarding new high net worth relationships that result in significant revenue to ensure sustainable financial support for the organization. The Sr. Director works collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents to ensure that Easterseals CR&EC’s mission and revenue goals are met in a timely manner.
Principle roles and responsibilities include: significant revenue development through individual and corporate major giving plans; high net worth prospect identification through conversion; and new business development along with operational implementation. This role will report to the EVP, Chief Marketing & Philanthropy Officer and will have specific annual revenue and pipe line development performance goals.
Develop a donor-centric Major Gifts – Planned Giving Program in conjunction with the CEO and EVP, Chief Marketing & Philanthropy Officer. The program is to include increasing volunteer leadership recruitment and management, high net worth prospect identification, research, evaluation, conversion and securing major planned gifts for the organization. Create donor/prospect engagement with existing/new service programs to attract, retain, and increase giving from existing and new donors, to deepen relationships and increase revenue. This role is responsible for the execution of all elements of such program.
Recruit and manage high-profile volunteers who are willing to cultivate and solicit others within their network for major gifts. Ensure volunteers are appropriately supported and trained on mission opportunities, campaign best practices, and successful donor solicitation. Manage such volunteers through regular interaction and general support.
Personally identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward new high net worth prospects that have capacity for major gifts. Develop a tailored strategy for each prospect and coordinate steps to move them toward readiness to be asked for a substantial major gift.
Develop new business opportunities that result in significant revenue for the organization. Including preparing a strategic business plan, market and financial analysis and program revenue targets, including when needed implementing related strategic initiatives.
Sell Social Enterprise business services to new customers.
Public speaking to a variety of constituents to expand awareness and enhance reputation of Easterseals CR&EC as an indispensable resource to the community.
Prepare written marketing correspondence, solicitation materials, briefing materials, acknowledgements, and other items to promote and deepen high net worth donor engagement and increased giving to Easterseals CR&EC.
Utilize CRM system to manage the donor centric relationship building process and support the business process of major gifts by tracking interactions, approaches, responsiveness and donations.
Gain a thorough understanding of Easterseals CR&EC’s history, culture, programs, constituencies and organizational structure; including its base of financial support and the short and long-term funding requirements of all segments of the organization.
Complete other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Bachelor Degree in psychology, business, sales or other relevant field. Advanced Degree, Military and/or Corporate experience a plus.
Minimum of 5+ years of directly related professional experience, including a quantifiable and successful track record with new business development outcomes and major planned gifts of $100,000 and above.
