Summary

The Onboarding Specialist will be responsible for all onboarding activities for new CPCU employees. This role will work closely with the VP, People & Culture and management to build programs and training to increase engagement and build a team that thrives in a financial services environment. This role will also be responsible for building a pipeline of talent using community outreach, postings, and social media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees onboarding process once the candidate has been approved for hire by VP, People & Culture.
  • Prepares and guides the new employee through onboarding and training maintaining ongoing communication.
  • Updates department managers on the status of new hires and where they are in the onboarding process on a reoccurring basis.
  • Available to answer questions from new hires via phone, email and in person.
  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for new employees.
  • Conducts new employee onboarding and New Hire Training program including in-person, virtual and on the job training.
  • Develops and coaches staff the core system application, product and service knowledge.
  • Monitors trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training. Discusses problem areas with trainees’ direct supervisor and recommends solutions or additional training. Reports to trainees’ direct supervisor on progress of employees during training periods.
  •   Responds to inquiries from management including any questions about the hiring process, onboarding process, or any other HR related issues.
  • Works closely with the VP, People & Culture to develop creative and innovative strategies for sourcing and acquiring new and diverse talent.
  • Continual follow-up and check-in during the first 90 days with all new hires.
  • Acts as a liaison for new hire questions during first 90 days.
  • Ensures all new hire surveys are taken timely.
  • Assists VP, People and Culture in identifying appropriate and effective placement of job postings and sources candidates from lists, social media, existing databases, learning institutions, and associations as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • College degree in Human Resources, Psychology or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years talent acquisition, onboarding experience or training required.
  • Experience creating and delivering training.
  • Experience identifying and delivering process improvements.
  • Previous knowledge of COCC Insight core processor preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods. Familiarity with various PC peripherals.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom and related program software.
  • Must be able to handle classified personnel information with strict confidentiality.
