The State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Shared Services Center of Excellence has an exciting, anticipated opportunity for you to join us as an ADA Manager (Principal Human Resources Specialist) for the Benefits & Leaves ADA Unit.
The ADA Manager (Principal Human Resources Specialist) will report directly to the Statewide Human Resources Program Manager and be responsible for leading a team of ADA Specialists whose primary function is to handle accommodation requests in alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA).
The successful candidate will promote a strong culture of customer service that ensures program effectiveness and optimal service delivery in support of our agency’s objectives. To be successful in this role, you must be able to motivate your team in a fast-paced, high-volume setting while maintaining a working environment conducive to positive morale and teamwork. You should be able to effectively interact and collaborate with individuals at all levels and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

THE ROLE
As an ADA Manager (Principal Human Resources Specialist), you will:
Plan workflow, determine priorities and supervise the work of a specialized service delivery team
Develop and train your team on all aspects of the ADA accommodation process
Monitor daily activities of ADA Specialists to ensure desired productivity and service goals are met in accordance with high standards of excellence
Serve as the primary subject matter expert for your team and the central point of contact for all ADA related escalations
Administer case management for accommodation requests that require complex eligibility analysis
Advise managers and employees on the interaction of the various leave entitlements and the ADA
Communicate with agency human resources partners, bargaining unit representatives and other stakeholders to ensure cooperative relationships
Collaborate with division leadership to evaluate workflows, recommend enhancements, and implement improvements that strengthen service delivery and overall program effectiveness
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Monday – Friday schedule
Full-time (40 hours per week)
First shift hours
Centrally located in Hartford, CT (450 Columbus Boulevard) with easy access to major highways
Hybrid work schedule: combination of in-office and telework, in accordance with the Telework Policy
