Position Summary:
The Talent Acquisition (TA) Business Partner is responsible for researching, developing and implementing effective recruiting and staffing activities to attract a qualified pool of capable candidates for the ThayerMahan organization. The TA Business Partner will be the primary contact for recruiting venues such as Indeed, Glassdoor, and LinkedIn. Additionally, the TA Business Partner will create engaging recruiting events, be the contact for our staffing partners, and participate in various career fairs to expand the ThayerMahan Brand and outreach.
This position requires a strategic/engaged business partner who is collaborative and capable of building a strong trusted partnership with leaders and employees of ThayerMahan. You will maintain excellent relations with all collaborators and guide hiring managers and candidates through the recruitment and selection process. This is a talent acquisition focused HR position.
The TA Business Partner will be responsible for maintaining a business partnership approach with a mindset and capability for agility, in order to build out and service a rapidly growing organization. Must be a committed customer focused partner who ensures confidentiality, equality, consistent accountability, thoughtful communications, and empathy.

You are a skilled communicator able to collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders and understand their requirements. You are able to clearly define strategies and processes and get buy-in from stakeholders.
Role and Responsibilities:
Partner with the Senior Director Human Resources and HR Team as well as client groups to formulate, develop, implement, and evaluate a recruiting strategy.
Provide proactive recruiting support while managing 10+ job requisitions.
Regularly engage in direct communications with the HR Team on key human resources staffing matters, including sourcing techniques and best practices.
Maintain a customer focused and engaged relationship as a business partner to the client groups in order to ensure and maintain ongoing and positive relationships, while understanding client group needs.
Manage the new hire onboarding program for on-site and remote employees.
Actively participate in the interviewing, selection, and hiring process by engaging with hiring leaders.
Represent ThayerMahan at hiring events, career fairs, and networking events. Own the annual summer internship program and advise on process improvements.
Maintain data capture activities, including recruiting, hiring, sourcing reports in order to effectively track outcomes.
Maintain current knowledge and application of all relevant laws and regulations at the local, state, and national level relating to employment and ensure compliance.
Monitor adherence to internal policies and legal standards and provide ongoing coaching.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director Human Resources.
Location: Full-time (hybrid 3 – 4 days/week on-site) Groton, CT
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Required Experience, Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Human Resources, Psychology, Business Management, Communication Science, or other related field of study.
A minimum of 5 plus years of HR staffing/business partnership experience including demonstrated effectiveness within the sourcing/staffing process, including technical candidate development and building college/university relationships.
At least 2 years of staffing agency experience, preferably in technical recruiting.
Experience implementing strategies for talent management and collaborating with the hiring manager and staff members during the offer process.
Strong business acumen with advanced interpersonal, verbal, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of employment laws and other legal compliance issues.
Ability to listen and probe to understand underlying needs and/or root cause of an issue.
Outstanding judgement, sensitivity and high discretion.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HR system applications (Bamboo HR or other HCM).
Must have the ability to travel as necessary to local/regional recruiting events.
Preferred Experience, Skills:
PHR or SHRM-CP certification
Experience with maritime workforce staffing and development is a plus (not required)
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Hybrid work is available with anywhere from 3 to 4 days per week in Groton HQ as needed after an initial ramp-up period.
Due to our contracts with the US Government, US Citizenship is a requirement.
Travel Requirements:
Attendance at local and regional recruiting events throughout the year.
